Buffalo Stars Mentorship ProgramIn a continued effort to improve the overall ability, character and development of local youth hockey players the Buffalo Hockey Alliance and the Buffalo Stars will be enhancing their relationship. These sister organizations will work together in many exciting ways. This renewed partnership will focus on preparing the youth hockey players in the organization for their eventually transition into Junior Hockey and perhaps, someday into the College ranks.
The following programs will been incorporated for the upcoming 2010-2011 season:
• Buffalo Stars Mentor Program:
Youth players within the Buffalo Alliance organization will have a mentor from either the Stars Empire Junior B, or CHA Junior B team. This mentor will be available to the youth player to answer any questions they may have, the relationship will provide the youth player a valuable resource that may not be available otherwise. As part of this program players will attend a joint luncheon with guest speakers on various topics.
• Buffalo Stars Practice Participation:
Stars players will be available to attend Buffalo Alliance practices. This will allow the youth players the opportunity to interact with the Stars players on the ice and see first hand what is necessary to play Junior Hockey.
• Stars coach for a day:
Stars players will give a pre-game talk to select Buffalo Alliance teams. Stars players have the ability to give a different perspective to the youth player; and they will have an opportunity to share this perspective with in a pre-game setting.
• Day in the Life of a Stars Player:
Each Buffalo Alliance team will have the opportunity to spend a day in the life of the Stars. Alliance teams may have access to the Stars locker room for a game, as well as use of the Stars sound system. Players will also have the opportunity to sit in for a Stars pre-game talk.
We believe that these new programs will offer our youth players a unique experience unavailable to others in this area. We are looking forward a continued partnership, in an effort to create a fun and exciting hockey program that will develop highly skilled players with impeccable character.
This program will also be opened up to other youth hockey programs in the area. This program will be administered through the Buffalo Stars Community Relations Department.
