Here's the announcement out of Fresno...the actually have a player that is paying dues to play there.El Paso looks pretty good. Some real level play in the city of Sin at the showcase. How fitting that the Rhinos proved their point in defeating the team full of empty promises in the city of broken dreams. Boulder looks decent with their Norpac filled roster. They could be a dark horse to give the Rhinos a run. I doubt it but they have improved a lot since the beginning of the season. Phoenix just isn't as deep as they were in year's past. Too bad the lumber yard isn't in the scholarship business anymore. Hoody is now having to actually coach what he has instead of merely opening the gate. San Diego is making a decent stand heading into the second half. It is good to see them step it up over he past couple of seasons. They have surprised me so far. A couple of close losses and a game they could have won. They could be a team to shock someone in the first round. Valencia is proving to be a one-year wonder. Last season, they had Chris Hartly come in from Eugene (Norpac) and take that team to it's best regular season in history and put it within one game of the nationals. Senor Perez repaid him with a swift kick in the face and demoted him to assistant to a former NHLer with little experience coaching. No offense to the new coach as he didn't do it but the owner showed what most already about him. Tulsa is hot and cold. They seem to have improved with their new coach but they have been inconsistent of late. Depth is an issue for them. So far a really good showcase from a competitive standpoint. Pitting the divisions top teams against each other is a good idea.
