It's very unfortunate but not really wrong. The face of D-1 hockey is changing with the start of the Big 10 league next year. UAH is so far removed form the footprint of all other D-1 programs they just can't fit into another league nor can they count on competing as an independent. Joe- I hope your boy can find a new home- he certainly deserves a better fate than this.

Thanks, we'll see what's out there. At this point it may be DIII given that schools are recruiting their 2013/2014 classes now. So unless a school has an opening - whether unfilled yet or due to departure - in your position it will be tough.
Who knows what is going to happen. Lots of suspect answers being given by the chancelor, supporting claims the his decision was made last spring and he only went thru the motions of "investigating/reviewing" options just to say he did.

Not getting hopes up just yet, as there is still a lot of work to get done, details to get hammered out, but it's definitely encouraging news.
