Just wondering if there was any word about this team coming back for 2010-11? The KYRO rink hasn't even started construction so one can only guess where they'd play. No responses to listed email addresses. Just curious and thanks for the assist!

Sounds like most junior teams. The Lakers had Gorman who had a kid, then Mort who had two.

There are a ton of owner/son combos across the map.

Aside from CDA, NORPAC had Tri City (Hisaw).

NAHL had Toledo, Southern Minn, Traverse City, Marquette, Bismarck, Springfield, Springfield (spirit), Kenai to name a few who had owner/sons.

USHL has DesMoines, and TriCity currently.

I am sure there are more.

Most all the teams in the west had or have player parent combos

Eugene
Southern Oregon
Puget Sound
and so on....Thats the beauty about Jr B hockey u can call it what ever you want (Tier AAA) but its still far from Jr A hockey when parents are the ones still in control

Let's look at it this way...teams that do not have the combo:

Seattle, and all of the AWHL division.

Let's see, in the East the family connections were/are, Butte and Bozeman. In the West, Gorman was involved at one time or another with five teams. Liberty Lake LumberJacks, Spokane Flyers, Kootenay Colts, Eugene Thunder and instrumental in the start with Butte. He then sold Eugene to John McBride who then had Portland and Eugene. He then sold the Colts to Cody, moved the Flyers to Coueur d Alene, changed it to the Lakers and sold it to Mort.
Kaufman had two teams, Puget Sound and Kent Valley and later sold Kent Valley to the Totems.
Now we have the Southern Oregon family team.
Things have changed a lot, but the more they change the more they stay the same.

Decider,
How dare you soil the Seattle name by including them in your history lesson!!!!!!! Glad you knew all of these--I would have only known about 70%---And no, that does not mean you are 30% better than I.

John Mcbride never had anything to do with the Eugene Thunder not sure where u are getting you info and Dean Gorman never had anything to do with the Lumberjacks

Mike Ankney Bought the Thunder from Gorman

And Knudson had the Lumberjacks from day 1

Decider--wishing I was golfing. Knee #2 is healing right now.
Muffin---I think McBride had his hand in Eugene via Bob F. The Lumberjacks turned into the Flyers, which Gorman eventually ended up with. Of course, I don't say I'm 100% correct, but I THINK I'm close. The family tree of NORPAC would get pretty confusing if one ever mapped it out--lol.

You are correct, John did not have the Thunder, Big mike lost the Thunder back to Gorman and he sold it to McBride who in turn sold it to Evans.
Izzy Knudsen and Gorman were together on LumberJacks with Izzy being the major player. Any way these people worked hard to get the League going along with Jack Tragis who was the originator from Fairbanks.
Now wait to see the "new" changes in the works.
