Missoula and Helena are starting their championship series tonight. Seven games sceduled, all Friday and Saturday dates, so it will take almost a month if it goes the distance.
Kind of anticlimatic, given that nationals are behind us, but still- hockey marches on.

Anyone know what the championship in this new league will be called?

Anyone think Missoula's goalie is getting tired? He's been carrying most of the work load playing 17 of 23 regular season games after Christmas. Plus every minute at nationals even after letting in 7. Where did Newsome go? He was one of the best in the league. At least that's what the stats say. Baum was 2-4 vs Helena. Newsome was 3-1. Haven't watched any games. Just going off box scores.

Any fears off this series being anticlimactic were put to rest tonight as these two teams picked right up where they left off. This has become a great rivalry. The game was high flying and hard checking.

It's going to be a long series in many ways

Helena attempts to secure their 5th league title in a row and the inaugural “Last Man Standing Cup” tonight in Helena. Good luck boys.

'Pears Helena gets to take home the trophy again - whatever it might be named. Probably should just call it the BIGHORN.
Anyway, 4 straight of Missoula, totally 17 goal in the 4 games, over just 8 for the Maulers.
I expect these boards to go dormant for a few months.
Is it worth keeping them going?

With AGM's coming up from a few leagues there may be some surprizes and confusion we need to straighten out, or try to understand.

Looks to be an interesting summer in the World of Junior hockey. My post about the Billings team getting sold never even made it to the board! That tells me a lot about the behind the scenes shady stuff. Anyone see the EJHL is under investigation for letting players play for free?

HP, you should try your post again. I suspect 'operator error', as I doubt that DAD would delete such a post and he and the two 'linesmen' are the only ones I know of that can delete a post.
Curious about it, though ---

Seems odd your post didn't make it. It is pretty open that the team has been sold.
Probably just wrong button pushed.

I have deleted NOTHING since Christmas. With the exception of a post Iwas asked to delete by the author - double post and wrong info.
If you think I deleted a post, ask me, don't 'wonder' backstage. I don't hide from much...

I did get some info on the sale. The team was sold and to a local (Billings) person and the team is to remain in Billings. Apparently league approval to come this week on the sale. We will see what shakes out. Rumor now is that the new owner has struck a new deal with the Rimrock arena in Billings for the team to play there instead of the run down barn they play in now. Things should hopefully be public here real soon.

Looks like the Quake have made their case and will be added to the AWHL for the 2012/2013 season. 7 teams in the league now! Also, I hear rumblings that the Butte Roughrider franchise will be back in some form or another and will be joining the AWHL as well for an 8 team league. Not sure about the Butte rumor though?

Seems as if Glacier was denied getting out of their pact with the NORPAC to join the AWHL so there is talk that they will play in the KIJHL? C'mon folks lets get the rumors cleared up!

Will there be no more NORPAC? Or are these teams just sick of the NORPAC? What will happen to the remaining teams?

With all due respect, who's left? Eugene? Puget Sound/Bremerton or whatever they are called now? Vancouver or whatever they are called now? None of them have had a contender in some time except for Eugene. No Tri-Cities, no Pioneers, no Coeur d'Alene, no Body. There aren't enough teams for a league of their own and not enogh players to form new teams, even if there were owners and ice palaces. WSHL appears the only option if they are to continue.

Still doesn't look like enough teams.

The owner is a good guy! I know him and his family and they will be good for the Bulls. I hope they can play at the Metra, but the Metra (Rimrock Auto Arena) had an article a few months back saying that they were not going to fix or replace the ice making generators. So if they changed their minds, I don't think there will be any games there, at least a whole seasons worth.

I agree JHWD but the newest rumblings out of Billings is a new ice rink located in or near the downtown area which would be pretty sweet. I know there are people and lot of them that want a new ice rink for billings. Youth Hockey parents, Figure skating, mens leagues, and not to mention the Bulls and their affiliate Oz Fitness AAA. We shall see what the future holds but hopefully something good. I think the addition of a team or two to the AWHL would be excellent.
