Then we need to know how they are seeded. After that, time to start guessing. But did you Know??? that one of the nationally recognized computer rankers has both Helena and Seattle (of what is considered by many to be the worst league in existance - NORPAC)ranked in the top 5 in Junior A III. The other 3 top 5 teams are the all EJs -- Hitmen and Monarchs, and I can't remember the 3rd. Since that league deigns to not participate in the tourney, declaring that the champion of their league is of highest importance, I guess we will see the 'Horns and the Totes playing for the title. Ya think? -------------------- Them boys shore do chase them little rubber blobs around, don't they?

Well, let's see who is Helena? They are the NorPac Champs. played 50 league games - won 48 while scoring 400 goals -- way more than enywon esle in junion hockey. Their oponend scored 84. Their Average point differential wwas 6.32 per game. By far the ighest in jr. hockey. Also, not in these stats was a trip to WSHL for a showcase, where they were pairedd with the WSHL best and came home undefeated. In the playoff, Helene Swept three straight best of 5 matchups. the first opponent was swept all three games. They scored 64 and gave up 14 in nine games. They went 23 of 43 on power plays (56.43%) thile their penalty kill was 93.3%. These figures were better than during the regular season, where they had a meer 37.5% conversion on power plays and their Penalty Kill ran only 93.3%. Several of the quoted numbers were 'all jr a' highs for the year. I believe that some may also be all-time highes for jr a hockey, but don't have time to chase that info. -------------------- Them boys shore do chase them little rubber blobs around, don't they?

re Helena. I watched them play in Vegas. They were very good. Not as dominating as their offensive stats indicate tho. All the games were close in Vegas. Even against San Diego. A couple of them were come from behind wins. I think the WSHL teams may have taken them too lightly.Regarding their 400 goals...more than half of them came in about 15 games that were double digit wins. Two of those were 20-0 and 28-1 against Butte. Another 12 games had 7-9 goals. So those 27 games accounted for about 250 of their 400 goals. They are really good and could win it all. But understand that a lot of their offense came against really weak teams. I know a few of their players. Great kids. Very good players. But I'm pretty sure their point totals wouldn't have been half of what it was if they played in the AJHL. Just sayin... At the same time, lord help the teams that takes them lightly.

I am curious about the CSHL/NA3HL and 20050 seems to have a lot of answers with his rankings system which rates all of the CSHL/NA3HL clubs higher than the other leagues (Battle Creek 0-45, 44th of 72)and other knowledge at his disposal. The league presented itself to USA Hockey as a name change only. But the NA3HL literature clearly points to the fact that they are the gateway to the NAHL. So, I took a look at Chicago's rosters, a team that HB1 and 20050 seem to think is a powerhouse. Players by age 1990 through 1993 NAHL 5-9-7-2 NA3HL 4-11-8-2 It shows that next year the NAHL club will only lose five (5) players. Based upon their current make-up I would think they would pick up mostly 1992 and 1993 birth years as they will automatically have double the number of twenty-year-olds over this year. The NA3HL club will lose 4 players to age and I can't see them moving 11 1991 players up with no room at the top. They also don't have a large crop of 1992-1993 age players to move up. This all seems antithetical to a real player development model if the goal, as stated in the literature, is to move players to the next level (ie; NAHL). It seems more about winning at both levels. 20050 please correct me if I'm wrong in my reasoning.
