I recently was asked by a Junior hockey player to give him some advice on what to do with his hockey career. He has a late '89 birthday which means many of his former teammates (and kids he graduated with) still have a year of eligibility left in junior hockey. Does anyone know of any decent junior leagues that allow some 21 year olds to play? I have heard that the continental junior hockey league allows a limited number of 21 year olds to play, but are there any others?

Decent Junior leagues DO NOT allow 21 year olds to play.

Players can turn 21 after December 31 and continue to play for the remainder of the season.

If they are good enough it is time to look at minors if not beer leagues. Good luck to them. Also there are a lot of competitive adult leagues out there'

The only league I know that allows 21 year olds is the GMHL in Toronto and it is not a good league. It's not even sanctioned by Hockey Canada. Kid should look at a club hockey team and go to school.

GMHL may be an outlaw league, but I do know a couple of kids who actually went on to play college hockey. D1? No, but in school all the same.

Its called midgets and juniors for a reason. Time to move on . . .
Play college, club or beer league like the rest of the 89's.

Harsh, but true for the most part.
